ARC Middenmeer: Scaling Industrial Decarbonisation and Carbon Removal in North Holland
ARC is our inaugural biochar and power production facility located in the ECW Energy horticulture & data centre cluster in Middenmeer, North Holland.
Europe’s premier high-tech Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) facility, delivering 20,000+ tons of permanent CO₂ sequestration annually while powering the local circular bioeconomy.
- Location: Wagenpad 14, Middenmeer, North Holland
- 40,000 m³ of premium biochar, serving as a circular input for the Dutch high-tech greenhouse sector
- 20,000 tCO₂e annual net sequestration
- 10M m³ natural gas displaced annually
- 20 Years project service life
ARC Middenmeer: At the heart of the Dutch greenhouse and energy cluster
Project in brief
ARC Middenmeer is a strategic pillar of the North Holland green transition. By integrating directly into the Middenmeer energy cluster with our partner ECW Energy, we convert regional biomass residues into three critical value streams: Industrial-scale Carbon Removal, Renewable Energy, and Circular Growing Media.
Carbo Culture’s specialised biochar is a high-quality, circular alternative for the horticultural industry, ensuring permanent and verifiable carbon storage in full alignment with EU regulatory frameworks..
Our proprietary poly-generation technology produces high-calorific syngas designed to fuel retrofitted gas engines. This allows our partners in the greenhouse and data center sectors to transition seamlessly from fossil natural gas to biogenic energy, leveraging existing infrastructure to reach immediate decarbonisation goals.
